Beyond the Geek is a business based in Cypress, Texas. By purchasing and utilizing services offered through beyondthegeek.org, you are accepting the the conditions laid out in this Terms of Service agreement.

When you use any of Beyond the Geek’s services, or send e-mails, text messages, and other communications from your desktop or mobile device to us, you are communicating with us electronically. You consent to receive communications from us electronically, such as e-mails, texts, or notices and messages on this site. You may retain copies of these communications for your records. You agree that all agreements, notices, disclosures, and other communications that we provide to you electronically satisfy any legal requirement that such communications be in writing.
All content included in or made available through Beyond the Geek, such as text, graphics, logos, button icons, images, and software is the property of Beyond the Geek or its content suppliers and protected by United States and international copyright laws.
If you provide us with any information login credentials, or we create any for you, you are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your accounts and passwords, restricting access to your computer, and you agree to accept all responsibilities for actions carried out under your account. If you are under 18, you may use our website with parental or legal guardian involvement.
Scheduling and Reserved Times
Booking time using Microsoft Bookings does not cost you anything upfront. The final cost associated with the booking will be verbally confirmed prior to any work.
Cancellation of Reserved Time
You may cancel any appointment up to two (2) hours before the appointed time without penalty. If payment has been processed, a full refund of the appointment and services will be processed within 3 to 7 business days. If applicable, processing fees that we are incurred by the transaction will be deducted from the refund.
Short Notice Cancellation
Cancellation of reserved time with less than two (2) hours before the appointment will not be refunded. We will roll a portion of missed appointment costs into a future transaction as a discount off the total invoice. The amount credited towards future invoices will range from 25% – 100% of the booking cost, depending on the circumstances under which the appointment was cancelled. Beyond the Geek LLC retains full discretion when making these decisions.
No Show / No Answer House Calls
We will remain at the designated service address for thirty (30) minutes if no one answers. We will make reasonable attempts to contact you using phone, email, or text messages. If no answer is received within 30 minutes of documented arrival, the reservation will be forfeit. Upon forfeit, you agree to pay a no show fee equal to 50% of the billable hours described on the work order emailed to you, but will not exceed $100.
Involuntary Breakage of Work
On-site house calls require the presence of an adult at all times. We will exit the premises if no persons of age remain on site. We will resume upon your return at no extra charge; however, hours will continue to be billed during involuntary breaks in work unless explicitly documented in a written agreement.
Returns and Refunds
Due to the nature of our work, we do not accept returns or refunds except in very particular instances. If software licenses are purchased, we are bound by similar terms of service with our vendors and therefore we must ask that you honor the agreement we lay out at the start of service. You may cancel monthly or annual service fees at any time without penalty, but software costs will not be refunded. Service calls and billed hours are non-refundable.
The one and only exception to our No Return/Refund Policy: if we have purchased hardware but have not opened the component packaging or the hardware is defective, we will do our best to fix the situation. Most of our vendors have a thirty 30 day return period that we are pleased to offer to you as well. This means we will either obtain new equivalent hardware for you (supplying the same product or equivalent value of your choosing) or return the components. We do not charge restocking fees unless we are subject to them ourselves. We operate with the best of intentions, but every situation is different and we reserve the sole right to approve or deny any return/refund transaction.
Cancellation of Service Contracts
We strive to do everything in our power to keep you as a satisfied customer. If you choose to cancel a subscription plan, please call or email us so that we may help you proceed with your request. Subscription services may be tethered to an antivirus subscription. If this applies to your situation, you may be charged for the remaining months in your service agreement until we are able to terminate the service. This transition period will not exceed thirty (30) days. You will lose access to the antivirus service upon cancellation.
Completion of Work
Once work is completed, an invoice that outlines the work completed and confirms its completion will be emailed to you after it has been verbally discussed. You agree that an invoice sent via email satisfies any legal requirement that it be in writing. You consent and agree to pay all outstanding charges and/or fees described on the invoice.
Digital data security and integrity is important to us and we appreciate and honor your trust. We will always utilize encryption to safeguard the transmission of information during remote desktop sessions, emails, and data storage (if requested). Nevertheless, we cannot and do not control all factors relating to your data or the services that facilitate some of our interactions with you. By granting us access to your information, in transient or permanent form, you acknowledge the risk of data breaches and assume all liability when sharing your data with us. The safety and privacy of your data is wholly your responsibility. We are not responsible for the content, nature, or information contained in your data.
